Let them know that you want thier input and value thier oppinion.
As with anything, if you introduce an idea in its entirety, it can be overwhelming. The idea is to use only a few to emphasize at each time.
It may help the students if they are given a combination of models to use. For example, teacher structured and student-choice.
There are four steps in this approach.
1. mastery of information
2. understanding key ideas
3. personal involvement
4. creating something new related to topic
Teacher studies her students to find student strengths.
