During the period of English rule in Ireland, several plantation schemes were enacted to establish control over Irish lands by displacing the native Irish population and replacing them with English settlers.
this was the policy of removing the irish people from their lands and replacing them with loyal english settlers (planters), who would rent these lands from the crown. this would result in these new lands being under english control and would raise money for the english king.
