An independent Record label based in London, UK.
Found by Geoff Travis who currently owns the company in equal partnership with Jeanette Lee.
Originally came about after Geoff had a record shop off Ladbroke Grove, and had successfuly promoted and sold records from the likes of punk, Indie pop and early punk bands - for example, The Smiths and The Buzzcocks, he began to manage bands, distribute acts and began his own record label.
Went bankrupt in 1991 however relaunched in 2001
It was bought out by Sony BMG but has since then become independent again after it was sold to the beggars group in 2007.
Was originally concentrated on post-punk bands such as The Cure, but came to mainstream and commercial attention after its re-birth during the post-punk revival, signing bands like Babyshambles and Arcade Fire.
