If scientist didn't figure out the Big Bang Theory happened then, we wouldn't know that the universe is expanding because scientist used various techniques such as measuring light to come to this conclusion.Scientists use this information about our expanding universe to predict our ultimate fate.

Whouldn't know how our galaxy came to be

All galaxies were squished together, and the universe was significantly smaller. The universe must have started as a single point meaning all matter (stars and planets) began from the same point.

The velocity of recession was defined by how the amount of shift toward the red end of the spectrum for that galaxy ( using the Doppler effect).

He announced that there was a linear (proportional) relationship between the distance of a galaxy from earth and its velocity of recession in 1929.

Wouldn't know age of universe

Lemaître, found that if the universe is expanding then it should be possible to calculate when the universe began (going back in time).

Lemaître (astronomer) explained the expanding of the universe. Projecting back in time, he suggested that the universe had originated as a great point/ dot (cosmic egg) coming outward from the same point in1933.

Wouldn't know universe is expanding

If the Big Bang wasn't found by scientist then, we wouldn't have the information that we live in an expanding universe.

Astronomers in the 1920s uncovered that every galaxy is moving away from the Milky Way (our galaxy) They measured light coming from other galaxies. Proving the universe is expanding.

Expansion of the universe is actually accelerating, 1990. Scientist predict that, the universe will continue to expand forever. Protons and neutrons will slowly break down until, the entire universe is made of a dilute, ever-expanding, cool mix gas of photons, neutrinos, and other particles Ultimately the universe will ends in entropic death (heat death)

Even though this isn't for million of years scientists use this information about our expanding universe to predict how are universe will end.
