How Would I Use:

Employing an initial assessment through running reading records allows teachers to identify each student's reading level and pinpoint specific areas needing improvement in reading, writing, and oral communication.

How Would I Use:

Observable Language and Literacy Behaviour In My Classroom

Using graphic organizers: Getting the students to use graphic organizers and word walls in lesson to help them practice using language and literacy behaviour in the classroom. This can be observed through the teacher to see if they are understanding what is being taught.
Getting them to do group work where as a teacher you can observe the student to see if they are using language and literacy behaviour in the classroom with other students
Making sure I chose certain texts that relate to my students and their culture

Initial Assessment

Having students do a running reading record test where the students read passages and the teacher notes which words they need help on. This assessment will help to see which level the student is at for reading, writing, and oral communication

Ongoing Classroom Assessment

Exit tickets: Seeing where the student is needing help and if they are understanding what is being taught
Anecdotal notes: observing students and seeing if they are understanding the lesson by writing down important notes as they are working

Instructional Strategy:

Considerations
Having a word wall for the students to see words so they can use it in their work and so they can have a visual for them to refer too when doing work
Having students using technological tools: seesaw app is great to use! This has tools where the students are able to use different tools like text to speech where the app reads to the students
