Causes

Carrier state: Sickle Cell Trait (one gene)

Must inherit two sickle cell genes (one from each parent) to have the disease

Autosomal recessive inheritance

Early detection and proper management improve outcomes

Lifelong condition with variable severity

Educate on signs of complications
