1713 - The Europeans and the French
Europeans had been coming to north america for many years and were competing for ownership of the land John Cabot had arrived in 1497. The king of england had sent Cabot to explore and claim lands for england. French explorer Jacques Cartier had arrived in north America in 1534 and had intentions of claiming the land for the french.

1749 - The Canadian fur traders
Many Canadian fur traders were known as coureurs de Bois meaning "wood runners" but was used by the Canadians to mean fur traders. When the First nations trappers met with the coureurs de Bois who purchased furs in exchange for goods such as wire, cloth, reading glasses, and guns. The coureurs de Bois took some of the habits of the first nations whom they interacted with.

1754 - seven years war
There was a war including the French who were fighting against the British and the First nations who sided with the French. After the French had lost the first nations had began to plan an attack on the British through secret council meetings And the senecas had begun sending secret war messages in the form of war belts to there neighboring nations.
