components of fitness

strength endurance

Subtopic

The quality or state of being strong; bodily or muscular power. the ability of a specific muscle or muscle group to exert a force in a single maximum contraction.

Health benefits

improves sleep

helps keep the weight off for good

helps with chronic disease management

develop better body mechanics

improves bone strength and muscle mass

training methods

fartlek training

weight training

flexibility training

plyometric training

interval training

maximal strength

Maximum strength is the maximum force a muscle can exert in a single contraction

health benefits

decreases muscle breakdown

increases bone density

makes everyday life tasks easier.

training methods

weight training

using low reps high weight. this imay be 1-3 reps and around 80-90% of 1RM

you can conduct weight training and find max strength in an isolated muscle. or you can complete compound movements such as deadlifts to find how much you can liftetc..

aerobic endurance

The level of aerobic endurance is reflected by the length of time an aerobic exercise involving large muscle groups (e.g. running, cycling, and swimming) can be performed. It depends on the ability of the lungs and heart to take in and transport adequate amounts of oxygen to working muscles, and on the ability of the muscles to extract and use the oxygen efficiently

training methods

interval training

continuous training

fartlek training

Benefits include improved cardiovascular health, lowers blood pressure, affordable, accessible, improved mood, strengthens immune system, helps with sleep and helps regulate blood sugar.

POWER

Power is the ability to exert a maximal force in as short a time as possible, as in accelerating, jumping and throwing implements. While strength is the maximal force you can apply against a load, power is proportional to the speed at which you can apply this maximal force. Power is measured by doing speed x strength. Types of power training include plyometrics, explosive weight training, weight training and hill sprints. One of the advantages is there is an increase in use of your fast twitch muscle fibers, which improves your muscular development. Improving muscular development enables you to move through your day with greater power which may help to prevent injury and may decrease the fatigue levels as the day progresses.
