Exploring the number of species on earth
Climate change
Climate change is a weather change in places with set weather conditions. Climate change can drastically transform the way people, animals, and plants live by causing water shortages and making it harder to produce food.
An example of climate change can be the rising sea levels. More information on the rising sea levels can be found at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level_rise
My climate change mind map from last year goes in depth on climate change giving more examples and information on the topic.: https://www.mindomo.com/mindmap/7256dfebf25541a6b01e2e4ef947fa1e
Classifying organisms
Classifying Organisms is organizing and arranging living organisms into groups/ranks based on their similarities in structure, DNA, etc.
This is the definition of the rankings
Endangered
Endangered is when a species is threatened or at risk of possible extinction.
The giant panda is an example of an endangered animal. Their cause of endangerment is due to deforestation. Meaning the loss of trees and natural resources in forest mainly due to human activity.
Deforestation image:
Extinct
Extinct is when species, animals, or plants have no more living organisms of their kind.
The saber toothed tiger is an example of an extinct animal. The cause of their extinction is unknow according to google but it says climate change may be a cause.
More information on saber toothed tigers can be found at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saber-toothed_cat

Exploitation
Exploitations is the act of treating someone or something unfairly in ways you will personally gain from or will benefit from.
Killing animals for clothing is an example of exploitation. A common animal used for these acts is a snake. Snakes are often captured and killed for purses and other resources that humans gain from.
Snake skin purses are an example of benefits:
5.5 million
According to the article given bug experts say that there are probably 5.5 million insects species.
24,901 miles
The planet Is so big having a 24, 901-mile circumference with plenty of those areas possibly being habitats for a lot of species.
An example of undiscovered places on earth would be the ocean. Due to humans being able to only survive in certain parts for so long a lot of the ocean is still yet to be explored meaning there is probably species living amongst us without our knowledge.
Animal conservation
Animal conservation is the act of protecting plants, animals, and the habitats they live in.
Examples of animal conservations are all fundraisers and projects that help animal and plant species who are in need or endangered.
Project elephant is an example. More info on project elephants: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Elephant
Arthropods
Arthropods are invertebrate animals with no skeleton.
Arthropod species cut into 4 different groups. There are: 1)insects
2) myriapods ex. millipedes
3) arachnids ex. spiders
4) crustaceans ex. crabs
taxonomist
A taxonomist is a biologist that groups organisms into their taxon ranks.
An example of a taxonomist is The father of taxonomy (Carl Linnaeus). He was the first person to formulate the taxonomy chart and classify organisms based on physical and structural features.
More information on Carl Linnaeus can be found at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Linnaeus
Species
Species is group of living organisms with similar characteristics that can also breed with each other.
Humans or (Homo sapiens) are an example of a species.
More information on the human species and be found at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human
biodiversity
Biodiversity is the collection of living species on earth, such as plants, animals, bacteria, and fungi. It can be used more to refer to all of the species in one region or ecosystem.
This image describes the different types of biodiversity and gives a brief explanation
Mites
Mites are a parasite that live on plants and other animals. Some mites may also be on human skin where they bite causing irritation or reactions towards us.

Threatened
Threatened is a feeling where someone or something like an animal may feel vulnerable, in danger, or at risk in a certain situation.
An example of an animal being threatened can be a deer being preyed on by a tiger. The deer will feel at risk and soon realize they are in danger when coming in contact with a tiger.
2 million
2 million is the estimated amount of animal and plant species that scientist say inhabit earth.
