Summary

Every student is unique

The same technique will not work with every student

Learning additional skills through conferences and webinars are crucial to expand skills repetoire

Final Point

ABA therapy promotes socially acceptable behaviours. However, the therapy often creates a rote responder and does not provide the opportunity for critical thinking. A combination of direct instruction and open ended instruction is the best approach to provide a student with the opportunity to solve problems.

Problem Solving

Traditional ABA therapy provides solutions not questions

The student becomes a responder.

Provide student with choices to solve the problem on his/her own

Student is not provided with the opportunity to ask questions to solve problems
