Evaluating multimedia and online sources requires a structured approach to ensure reliability and relevance. The CRAAP analysis method is a useful tool for this purpose. It assesses five key criteria:

the reason why the source exists
exaggerations, omissions, or errors?

look for errors of fact and integrity, and errors of logic

formal academic degree experience active involvement work in a particular subject area
relate to your topic or answer your question?

appropriate level of info?

have you looked at a variety of sources?

date of copyright date of publication date of last update dates of sources cited date of patent or trademark

shows reader you are up to date on the topic; historical context is allowed to use older sources

intended audience

videos are usually up front about their purpose

Accuracy
who is the source citing/ are those credible?

errors of fact AND errors of logic

no logical fallacies, quotes are in context, high production value, info can be found in other credible sources

Authority
remember that anyone can post on the internet, is your source from someone with authority?

professional or academic organization, quality or credibility of other vids on the channel, statement of credentials

Relevance
is the source actually related to your topic or is it distracting?
Currency
for videos - distinguish the production day and publication day (may be different)

was the video originally published or is it the primary version?
