Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Example)

Fundamental freedoms:

To respect the rights and freedoms of others.

To obey Canada's laws.

To participate in the democratic process.

To respect Canada's 2 official languages and multicultural heritage.

Democratic Rights:

freedom of speech and expression

the right to equal protection before the law.

Every Canadian citizen has the right to vote in elections and to run for public office themselves.

Legal Rights:

right to ownership of property

Right to patent

Right to goodwill

Right to vote

Right to use public parks, etc.

Guarantee of rights and freedoms:

freedom of conscience and religion;

reedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;

freedom of peaceful assembly and
freedom of association.

Mobility Rights:

We may move anywhere in Canada without permission.

Canadians have the right to leave or stay in Canada.

We can work anywhere in the country.

Equality Rights:

Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.
