Fahrenheit 451

Many times I have felt ostracized due to my decisions. I try to objectively stand up for what is right no matter if it benefits me or not. This has caused a lot of hurt in my own life but a sense of pride as well that I am my own person.

Spending the quality and quantity time with children is my number one priority. I no longer have some of the friendships I once had because I regularly choose my children over events, parties, outings and so on. Each time I feel more and more confident in my decision to be with my kids. The pain of judgement from others seems to hurt less and less.

I married my wife because I wholeheartedly evaluated and considered what I needed in my life in the present and future. It was a choice that was highly criticized and to this day in considered to be a "mistake". I'm thankful that I had the ability then and now to choose what is right for me.

Controlling the rLPFC by activating it or inhibiting it has a real affect on our decisions that are socially pressured. In an experiment done by the journal science, the University of Zurich compared those that made decisions with and without pressure from their peers. When the rLPFC was turned off, the subjects, although afraid of a negative reaction by their peers, still made a "good" decision.
