What creates a Stigma?

An individuals environment such as their location in the United States, culture, possibly even racial background.

Definition: A mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person.

What should you be looking for when conducting credible research?

Use google scholar to look for scholarly articles.

Such as .gov or .edu

Stay away from sites like wikipedia as well

Use websites such as Diigo to keep track of your research.

Be sure to keep in mind certain aspects about each source/ text when conducting research.

If the text is from a website or article remember to consider an authors bias, and perspective based on where ever they may be from.

Think about the purpose for their writing. "Is it informational, an argument, etc.

What does the site/ text look like? Is is professional or does it seem rushed?

iknowhiv.org has many different perspectives and stigmas. Use this site as a starting point to conduct your research.

Keep track of your thoughts when conducting research.

Be sure to annotate, highlight and take notes on websites using diigo and then bookmark those actions as well.

The same applies to in regards to finding examples of bias, setting, and purpose when looking for examples in hard copies of texts.
