Meaning and Definition of Grammar
a description of the structure of a language & the ways in which units such as words & phrases are combined to produce sentences in the language
the way a language manipulates & combines words to form longer units of meaning
a set of rules specifying the correct ordering of words at the sentence level

Purposes: converse freely and talk with native-speakers about many different subjects.
Language teachers who concentrate on fluency help their students to express themselves in English.
Activities: They pay more attention to meaning and context and are less concerned with grammatical errors.
E.g: role playing and more communicative activities where English is used as a medium of communication rather than an end in itself.
