Finding Mean, Median, Mode, and Range
Mean
"Mean" is another word for the average. To Find the mean of a set of data, you add up all the numbers and then divide by the number of data.
2+7+9=18
18/(number of data)
18/3=6
Note that the mean isn't always a value from the original list.
Median
The "median" is the middle value in the list of numbers. To find the median, your numbers have to be listed in numerical order, so you may have to rewrite your list first.
What if there are two numbers in the middle? How do you find the median?
You calculate the mean of the two numbers to determine the median of the set of data!
Mode
The "mode" is the value that occurs most often. If no number is repeated, then there is no mode for the list.
Range
The "range" is just the difference between the largest and smallest values.
