Ethical Values
Emotivism
All human actions are directed by our reason
All that we do is thought out and right and wrong are feelings
Objectivists
Believe in moral facts, which is something that is objectively true
Moral facts exist independently of humans, and is apart of the nature of the universe which is there for us to discover.
Actions are right or wrong, always and everywhere
Subjectivists
Moral values exist and should guide your behaviour and are subjective
Actions can be right or wrong, but not always or everywhere
Divine Command Theory
All matters of right and wrong have been decided by a
supernatural Supreme Being
Moral Values are those given by the Creator who has
decided what is right and what is wrong.
Moral Naturalism
Relies on human nature and what is natural for humans as a guide for what is right and wrong
Certain actions have the quality of "rightness" and "goodness" in the same way things have "yellowness"
What is right and wrong is discoverable
Intuitionism
Moral facts exist, but can not be known through reason
We feel moral facts
We just know what is right and what is wrong
Determinists
Morality does not exist because people have no free will
Humans can't be held responsible for our actions
Morality is not possible
Skepticism/Nihilism
Moral values are opinions, they are personal and of no real interest
You believe what you want to believe
Relativism
Moral values exist and are meaningful,
but are not universal
Right and wrong are matters of custom and habit
and are individual/cultural
