Data storage in ROM only be read

Used for firmwork updates

Example : ROM is the cartridge used with video game consoles, which allows one system to run multiple game

Flash Memory

-non-volatile memory chip
-used for storage and transfering data between a personal computer & digital devices
-often found in USB flash drives, MP3 players, digital cameras & solid-states drives

SD micro

-used for storing information
-SD = an abbreviation of Secure Digital & microSD.
-used in mobile phones and other mobile devices.

SD macro

-tend to be faster and more durable
-memory card format is better

Expansion Slot

- socket on motherboard
- used to insert an expansion card/circuit board
- provides additional features
example : video , sound , advanced graphics or memory.

Cache Memory

A hardware or software component that stores data so that future requests for that data can be served faster.

L1 cache - extremely fast but relatively small.

L2 cache - often more capacious than L1. L2 may be embedded on the CPU.

L3 -specialized memory developed to improve the performance of L1 & L2.
