A link to this ordering site for many FREE classroom supplies. Although not a MyPlate site, it offers a link to this gov't run program. The curriculum items are appropriate for all grade levels.
Videos on the introduction and importance of Whole Grains in the diet are included - YouTube videos.
Also have the USDA sponsored Video contest winners. A nice assortment of videos that can be integrated into the FCS or health curriculum.
This is a government operated website, with no commercial interests. All nutritional information is based upon the USDA and FDA recommended dietary guidelines. The links to a variety of government agencies that are interested in the general good health of the american public are useful within the classroom.
Although there is alot of verbage, and the site can sometimes seem overwhelming, the information is sound and is the information that is being given to the students through the School Lunch Program.
The supertracker offers interactive information from the food you choose to eat, dietary guidelines, activity levels to the tracking of your personal goals.
In the classroom, this gives the student the opportunity to understand what it is they are eating; versus what they think they are eating. This is an excellent tool to use with the secondary student to gain a basic understanding of good nutrition.

This area of the Supertracker allows you to view reports of all elements of the Dietary Guidelines as you enter it into your secure account.
My Top 5 Goals
After creating a profile, you can set up personal goals within 5 areas of nutritional/health concerns:
1. Weight Management
2. Physical Activity
3. Calories
4. Food Group consumption
5. Nutrients
As you enter information within the Supertracker, these areas will be updated to your goals.
My Weight Manager
A personal log of managing your weight. A Personal Profile needs to be created to use the application.
Physical Activity Tracker
This allows for your daily tracking of physical activity from a variety of different activities - from housework to exercise.
It allows for daily tracking, making a favorites list, and frequency list.
Food Tracker
Create a tracking of food intake based upon daily listing. This is the best way to truly understand what you are eating so that an accurate analysis of a diet can be made.
You can create your own profile, including some of your favorite foods that you eat on a regular basis.
By creating your own profile, the program will generate a daily caloric need for you based upon age, gender, and activity level.
Within the Tracker there is a PERSONAL JOURNAL that is helpful for understanding where, when and how you consume your diet. What are your eating habits?
Food-a-pedia
Allows for the comparison of two different foods out of a data base of over 8000 foods. Nutritional information is compiled for the USDA.
Blast Off
An interactive game for elementary students to the age of 12 that helps students learn how to choose foods within the dietary guidelines of the MyPlate symbol to reach "Planet Health"
When students get to "Planet Health", they can print out a certificate.
