Foundations and considerations of learning environments
Module I
Type in the name of the book you have read.
Ambientes de aprendizaje en el siglo 21. Correa, P. F. J. (2008).
Currently there are two major factors of change and development for education: education based on skill development and the inclusion of ICT to support and promote such development.
Learning environments, understood as the spaces in which teaching and learning processes take place, are evolving quickly and efficiently.
The main idea is what the book is mostly about.
Some tips to find out the main idea of a book easier:
- Read the title.
- Look for the text features.
- Figure out if you are reading a fiction or a non fiction book.
- Think about some examples that support this idea.
21st century learning environments
Xhomaqi, B., Todd, A., Boivin, P., Ramírez, J. B.,
Surian, A., Markauskaite, L., ... & Detienne, L. (2019)
Type the names of the book characters. Start with the main character.
Draw arrows to represent the relationship between them and if it is possible write on them what they represent for each other (if they are relatives, friends, lovers, enemies etc.)
Who controls the learning environments?
Teachers are becoming custodians of the learning process rather than the content.
A shared learning environment
The natural world can be a learning environment, likewise, communities become learning centers
This strengthens not only the academic knowledge, but also, the personal growing.
What is a learning environment?
The term also encompasses the culture of a school, the way that individuals interact and treat each other, and the ways that teachers can organize an educational environment to facilitate learning.
The term "learning environment" can specifically be defined as the diversity of physical locations, contexts, and cultures in which students learn.
What are the characteristics that best describe the character? Type them here.
Learning environments
Castro, M. C. (2019)
What is the reason why the author wrote the book?
What is needed to improve learning environments in Colombia under the approach of teacher training?
Teacher training and its importance in creating meaningful learning environments, which, as seen previously, goes beyond creating just one scenario. This requires a teacher who facilitates, listens and understands the curiosity of their students (Colombia.inn, 2016).
Characteristics of
learning environments
Learning environments
must have appropriate materials
These tools are related to the use of time and space (Davies, et al., 2013), access to resources (including technological ones) and a type of special infrastructure, in which classes outside the classroom are possible (Uncapher, 2016 ).
The learning environment
encourages autonomous learning
Appropriate learning environments should allow students to be responsible for their own learning process (Ministerio de Educación Nacional, 2011).
The learning environment
is flexible
It must be capable of modifying and adjusting to changes according to the type of educational model established (Téllez, 2014).
The learning environment
is a resource
it gets exhausted and degraded, so it must be sustainable and of equitable participation, with a group organization, in which all the actors work together (Viveros, 2011).
Learning environments should
be seen as a problem
Student can uncover mysteries and find their own solutions.
What is a learning
environment?
Scenario in which favorable learning conditions exist and develop, a dynamic space and time in which individuals develop skills, abilities and values.
Teach in the digital age
Bates, A.W. (2019)
Who is the author of the book? Type in his/her name.
Building effective
learning environments
What learning
environments do we want?
New technologies give us the opportunity to design other types of learning environments.
Environment that allows students freedom and exploration
Learning environments
and epistemology
Learning is a fundamental
human activity
Teacher must build a rich environment that facilitates the kind of learning that will benefit the student.
Student apply and evaluate what he has learned
learning in an abstract and conscious way is a human activity by nature
The objectivist view of the world
Teacher have and trasnport the
knowledge
The importance of an
effective learning environment
Good teachers try to shape the environment in which they are teaching to create the right conditions for learning.
Both, teacher and students
face a changing time.
