Jury Systems

In the judicial system, both the defense and prosecution can use a limited number of peremptory challenges to excuse potential jurors who may not be impartial. In the American jury system, a unanimous verdict from a 12-person jury is not always required, as long as the vote to convict represents a substantial majority.
