His father did not know at the time but when his father found out. Papi threaten Yunior to a beating. Papi was a very abusive father and Madal was scared of him.

In One Art it talks about how it is okay to let go. Such as there's no loss is no disaster. It is okay to move on from the past, because the past may hurt sometimes.
One Art and Fiesta 1980 can relate because Yunior may not have a good relationship with his father but that's still is dad at the end of the day. One art shows that moving on is okay, and I feel like for Yunior it may take some time to forgive his fahther. He can forgive but not forget.
El Olvido
El Olvido is about us forgetting our birth Place. If we were to forget put birth place we would not know where we came from. That's why it is a dangerous to forget.
Namesake
Dead End and Namesake connect because Maria is following her promise that she made her mom, and if she does not keep her promise she'll feel like she'd let her mother down. But in the other hand Ashoke's son is proud of showing who he is a person and where he is from, which makes his parents proud.
Family/Destiny
The Ganguli family ended up moving to New York. But they still were honoring the traditions of their native India and were blending it with the American Culture. Both parents Ashoke and Ashima were making sacrifices to give for their offspring opportunities, and their son show is own identity without forgetting his heritage.
Namesake and El Olvido connect because the son of Ashoke and Ashima went out to a new place, and tried something different. He was still able to show off his identify without forgetting his heritage.
Dead End
Maria deals with to major problems. She has to chose to be popular or keep her promise to her mother. Maria wants to fall in love with a boy name Frankie, but at the same time that would be breaking her promise to her mother. Which is to stay focus in school and finish school for her mother.
Why We Hate Love?
Hurt/love
When we fall in love, we forget everything. Such as the saying "Love in Blind". Being in "Love" bring mix feelings, such as anger, or sadness. Theses feeling come because of one others actions that are taken. But love is not hard to find, and sometimes we want it so bad, we find the wrong kind of love.
Why we hate love and Dead End connect because Maria is falling in love. Maria is unable to see the promise that she made for her mother. Which is the saying Love is Blind. Maria wants Frankie to be in love with her but she not focus on what's important.

family and legacy.
Relating back to the main question Miguel was not able to be who he wanted to be because of his family. Miguel was told to hide his talents and not be a musician.
Mother Tongue

Tan is ashamed of her mother because she speak broken English. Without Tan, her mother would not know what to do, because nobody understands her language.
Coco and Mother tongue relate to each other because both family were ashamed of something. Such as Miguel's family did not like music and Miguel had no choice but to go with it because its his family. But in the other hand Tan was ashamed of her mother way of speaking English, and she had no choice but to help her mother get through everything. Over all both characters weren't allowed to be who they wanted to be.
