It will endanger all of us who eat seafood, especially those who rely on it.

If we overfish, it creates an imbalance in the ocean and that will erode the food web which will result in us losing other marine life animals such as corals and turtles.

Impact on Indigenous People and their community

It could be quite dangerous for aboriginal people in the west if fish supplies begin depleting.

The main source for many Aboriginal people is fishing and they depend on it. They state that commercial fishing is using up the fishy supply in the ocean

Although the east is more commonly known for fishery, in the west British Columbia is known for producing amazing fishing in their freshwater.

Canada’s fishery mostly takes place on the east coast. This includes Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

What should be done to protect the environment and the industry in particular

We should limit ourselves to only fish what we need and not to overfish these resources.

We should promote sustainable fishing practices, enforce fishing regulations and support research for fish population management.
