Pyelonephritis

Pyelonephritis is a severe infection of the kidneys often characterized by acute inflammation. It is the most common type of upper urinary tract infection (UTI) and typically presents with sudden onset symptoms such as dysuria, flank pain, fever, and nocturia.

Elderly patients have mental distress

Yellow and hazy, possibly cloudy or turbid

Definition

Large amounts of white blood cells accumulate in the tubules
Advanced pyelonephritis involves the tubules which become necrotic
