Digital Citizenship
Digital citizenship can be defined as the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to technology use.
Security
Educators should teach their students about the importance of digital security. They should understand what a safe website looks like before giving out their personal information. It is crucial to understand the importance of data protection to keep yourself safe online.
Etiquette
Digital etiquette is taught to teach students to be kind to their peers and strangers online. For example, in our class we have discussion questions where we are asked to respond to a prompt and reply to others. Prior to our discussion question, we were informed on what is considered digital etiquette. How we respond online can affect others in real life in a positive or negative way.
What are some important educational issues related to digital citizenship?
Cyberbullying is a digital issue because it is hard to regulate and police. Some students act this way online because they are not taught the proper digital etiquette skills necessary to interact online and be a healthy digital citizen.
Literacy
Integrating what you learn in class out of class to the external world through the guidance of the teacher's lesson.
Commerce
A large share of market economy is done electronically, according to the reading. Sites like Ebay, Amazon, and many online retailers dominate the marketplace as a result. Students need to be aware of issues and practices that are associated with being a buyer or seller online in order to be an effective digital citizen in this digital economy.
