Discrimination against the LGBTQ community has far-reaching impacts, affecting not only individuals but also families, companies, and entire countries. Members of the LGBTQ community, particularly lesbians and transgender people, experience higher rates of depression, anxiety, poverty, food insecurity, and joblessness compared to the general population.

Discrimination against members of the lesbian, gay, bi, trans and intersex community doesn’t just hurt the LGBTQ but it hurts families, companies and entire countries.
LGBT people, especially lesbians and transgender people, tend to fare poorly compared with the general population. Studies in multiple countries found that the rates of poverty, food insecurity and joblessness are higher in the LGBTQ community.

According to a report by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and National Public Radio.The majority of LGBTQ Americans say they have experienced some form discrimination because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

64% of gay and transgender Americans cite discrimination as a major problem in our country.
In the workplace about 42% of LGBT adults experience workplace discrimination
Bullying of LGBT children is common in schools. 85% are verbally bullied during the school year. This harassment sometimes turns violent: 40% report physical bullying and 19% report being physically assaulted at school because of their sexual orientation. The bullying is so intense that 30% of LGBT children miss school because they feel unsafe.

Because of the things people say and do, LGBTQ people are far more likely to experience depression and anxiety.

Possible solutions

The Government should make stricter international human rights standards on non-discrimination, including by Prohibiting discrimination against Homosexuals.
Citizens should also Raise up their voices for their LGBT neighbors and friends if they get discriminated
