Fanoos Telecom is one of the licensed telecommunication operators in Iraq which offers voice and wireless connections by using CDMA system. The company provides WiMAX, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, which is the most advanced technology in wireless communication. WiMAX also is a wireless which supports not only broadband data but also voice and multimedia services. Fanoos has more than 250,000 users in Kurdistan, and this company implements its plans in Sulaimaniyah, Erbil, Duhok, Kirkuk, Mosul, Diyala, and Tikrit. The company has a considerable tendency to move its vast array of services to a wider range.
The company actually provides wireless broadband connections, and they use intranet in a small scale with no extranet. Moreover, it is mainly the company’s function to use database to record, process, show, and analyze information. They take advantage of warehousing to make a right decision. But the company sometimes faces various issues like losing information or redundancy in the database. So, IT department solves all that issues and tries to widen its major role in business development by looking for browsing and protocol functionality.
Fanoos uses laptops not only in IT department but also in finance and marketing parts. All laptops in each department are connected by using a local area network. They can exchange and send out information to each other through messaging and emailing.
The main software that company uses is CMDA, which is a digital wireless communication to send out audio and video signals. In addition to CMDA, Fanoos is using billing system through which they have a plan to build CRM. Also, DSS is a part of finance department in the company. However, Fanoos has no ERP implications.
DSS (decision support system) is a program that analyzes and evaluates the recorded data in a company about various new products or plans. This system supports managers to have a bigger understanding of decisions and their impacts in the future.
Decision support is a big part of Fanoos Telecom. First, marketing department in Fanoss Telecom has the power to design the packages with their preference. Then, packages are sent to technical and financial department to give their opinions and suggestions about. Thus, if they have any concerns about the packages, they can give their recommendation to modify the packages. Finally the packages are sent to CEO to make the final decision about.
The company does not have a web presence, but they have a plan to bring that new technological method into practice. The company believes that they have the capacity to implement customization- online ordering- in a near future. Nevertheless, Fanoos has a website through which people can visit it and see the different kinds of offerings. SCM (Supply chain management) is broadly the management of the activities which go through some stages such as sourcing, logistics, producing, and storing. SCM strives to satisfy the customer demands in an efficient way. The company combines both supply chains and finance. In other words, they co-existed both a branch of money and saving and loading. For example, finance department controls and watches over the profits and costs. Also, they are dealing with where products go and how they can be saved with the shortest time.
ERP (enterprise resource planning) is a software that supports and combines all important business segments in a company. ERP manages various functions in an organization such as purchasing, planning, and cooperating with suppliers.
Fanoos does not use ERP fully utilized, but they seek to an opportunity to take advantage of ERP implications. They think that implementing ERP depends on the man power and other requirements such as vendors and resources.
Order fulfillment is the business activates or, in a broader meaning, is the stages that a product ordering goes through. Customers first have to place an order, and then they experience some other steps which last with delivering products to customers. Fanoos does not offer online ordering. Therefore, buyers have to call them or go to their centers so that they are able to get the provision of wireless or phone communication services. The company sells their services through contracts or billing. Then logistic department is responsible for shipping products both locally and internationally. However, customers have the option of Product Inquiry, which means looking for offerings through the Fanoos website. Moreover, since there is no physical products involving in Fanoos marketing, buyers only can ask the company to stop the service.
CRM (customer relationship management) is a model which deals with the relationship between companies and customers. CRM requires technology to be stick with customer demands. CRM also organizes integrations of companies with clients and sales predictions. Fanoos Telecom does not use CRM, but they have a plan of making billing system which is a basis for establishing CRM. Fanoos managers think that implementing CRM needs a big range of customers. So, they have a plan to build CRM in few next years.
The business function of the company is divided into three parts: IT function, finance, and marketing. Each function plays a major role in managing the company’s internal and external interactions. There are some other departments, such as loading, storing, and delivering, but these functions are mainly a part of finance department.
