HLSR Recruitment

The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) at Texas Tech University employs strategic methods to enhance enrollment and retention rates by actively participating in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (

HLSR Recruitment

I would like to design some graphics that demonstrate the enrollment and retention rates of CASRN as they relate to HLSR.

I would also like to get some close ups of the recruitment material in the booth.

For this subject I would like to have some pictures of prospectives and Agri-Techsans interacting at the booth

HLSR Recruitment

How it has impacted CASNR

Will ask questions pertaining to this and CASNR more specifically when I interview Shelbey Havens.
Outside of Lubbock, Houston (or the general Harris County region) is the leading recruitment location for CASNR and TTU as a whole. (TTU Fact Book 2017-2018)

The experience of students recruiting students

"It's really easy for students to come up to us and say 'How are you enjoying college? How were the dorms? Was it hard to move away from your parents?' and that's where you can give them real insight from a student perspective." -Kaylynn Kiker
Current students tend to be more approachable and relatable to potential students than faculty would be.
Incoming students have the chance to have personal, one-on-one conversations with potential students about experiences and expectations at Texas Tech.

Why CASNR does it

CASNR has the chance to reach students that may have not ever have gotten the chance to about Tech/CASNR.
At HLSR CASNR is able to "show off" to students who might be going to talk to other schools and pool them into talking to Tech instead.
"In Houston sometimes we interact with students whoo probably never would of thought about coming to Tech and I like that." Kaylynn Kiker
What CASNR does at the HLSR booth
CASNR sends Agri-Techsans (the official student recruiters of the college) to HLSR to interact with prospective students and alumni one-on-one.
The booth is stocked with academic information, give outs (stickers, hats, shirts) and other TTU/CASNR related materials.
CASNR has a host of fun activities to draw students and alumni in including: Mini golf, connect four, checkers, wii, jingo, corn hole

"It's a good attention drawer for people to come over and say hi, because even though they may not know a lot about Texas Tech, everybody loves corn hole." -Kaylynn Kiker
