As a member of the community to select the influences which shall affect the child and to assist him in properly responding to these influences." -John Dewey

My experiences with schools in the US is just that. That we are only there because they have "important" things we need to learned that will "help" us later on in life.

School should be a comfortable place for children to be and help them be okay with other social interactions.

We need to help make sure that our students when they not just leave school but when they leave our class are ready for whatever the world has to throw at them.

Children/Students will all come from different backgrounds and will learn certain behavior because of that. Which is a good thing and we should use that to their benefit.

Segregation might not be as extreme as this now but people not having access to the education they would like for whatever reason motivates me to help them in some way.

My Job as a teacher is to help students realize that they can connect the things that they learn in a classroom into their own personal life.

My job as a learner is to make connections between the things that I'm being taught and personal experiences that I have had.

Anything that helps children/people become productive members of society.

School are to help given children the start they need. This section from the Connecticut School Law for me shows that they valued the importance that knowledge(Education) can have in the future of our children .
