Ethical Considerations

Sustainability
Use of paper plates over plastic for food table.
Use of natural or recycled materials in play spaces where possible.

Make use of resources already available. Pool the resources of the two kindergarten rooms together and utilise readily available natural materials.

Centre Staff Expectations
Staff who will be contributing to the success of the event, either directly or indirectly should be paid and informed of any roster changes in a timely fashion.
Dietary Considerations
Will I have guests attending who have religious or ethical dietary requirements? E.g. - Halal, vegetarian.

Provide vegetarian options and pork free options.

Will the provided food promote healthy diet choices?
Inclusion
Financial Accessibility- Will families from a diverse range of socioeconomic backgrounds be able to participate?

Holding the event at the centre ensures no venue hire fee.

Apply for Innovative Solutions Funding to ensure the event is affordable.

LGBTQI Families- Do the planned activities in any way inhibit the participation of LGBTQI families?

Avoid language which assumes heteronormative family structures in favour of more neutral terms.

Accessibility- Does the venue have wheel chair access, including in the bathroom?

Using the centre as a venue ensures accessibility for wheelchair users as there is a small ramp and wide doors.

Culturally sensitive practice- Acknowledging the Traditional Owners, the Yirrganydji people.

Incorporating Dreamtime stories such as Tiddalik the Frog or The Rainbow Serpent into the play stations available.
