Social Aspects

Spanish Flu
When the first wave of the Spanish flu came around people were more relaxed and laid back but when the second wave came along so did a video that was using the scarce technique to get people more worried and to get them to stay home to stop the spread.
At first people in school were quite happy because they got 2 whole weeks off of school but then as time went on and we couldn't see our friends it got a little boring. Some people with full time jobs before could not even work now. Some other social aspects would be that some people did not mind wearing masks while others threw fits over it the same with getting the covid shot and social distancing, I would say that it caused lots of social scenes

Protocols

A couple Protocols were that a pandemic was mandated as well as masks, some odd protocols were that you can only kiss though a handkerchief and in the beggining their masks only went over their nose not their mouth
Some protocols where different than Spanish flu like there were only a certain amount of people aloud in stores at times like grocery stores, we had to stay six feet apart we also had online school for quite a few years, however some where the same like that there was a pandemic and masks were mandated.

Treatment Options

However for covid there was treatment options like a needle and we had covid tests everywhere we even had kits so you can do it at home. As well as they obviously told you to stay home and isolate if you had symptoms.
There was no treatments for the Spanish Flu not even a medicine or needle nothing .They just told you to stay home if you had symptoms and hoped for the best.

stats and spread

In the whole world there was about 704,753,890 cases and about 7,010,681 deaths. In Canada there was 4,946,090 cases of covid 19 and 59,034 deaths reported.
Infected 500 million people globally this is equivalent to about 33% of the earths whole population and the Spanish flu killed nearly 50 million people globally most of them young ages 20-40. In Canada Spanish flu killed around 50,000 people.

Government

Covid-19
The government also banned public gatherings but this time after about a year the government let us see a certain amount of people.

self isolation was mandated if you had tested positive, even if only one person in your family was positive your whole family would have to isolate.

social distancing was mandated everywhere even outdoors you had to stay at least 6 feet apart.

Spanish flu
Banned public gatherings you were not aloud to see people outside of your family. This lasted for about 1 year.

masks were mandated but people did not know what type of masks to wear so they only wore masks over there nose for a little while then they used the usual surgical masks

shut down schools,cafes,movie theaters etc.

Media Coverage

Spanish Flu
they made up a special news paper called Variety which was it was a weekly news article that would give updates about Spanish flu. The government also would always give updates etc. as well as a video came out trying to scare everyone into staying home and isolated
Covid 19
there was commercials ,online posts, news paper articles even billboards, news broadcasts, posters all the information was everywhere
