Story Time Book Task 2

Mieko and the Fifth Treasure

Summary: I decided to work with this book published in 1994. The story takes place in Nagasaki, Japan. This text shows the terrible effects of the atomic bomb that fell there, both in the city and in the protagonist Mieko, a 10 year old girl, who after the tragedy feels that she has lost happiness and her ability to calligraphy.

Book's Trailer

My goal for the final project is to make an example similar to Booktube's videos which refer to recommendations and opinions of read books. I would like to talk about the book and the history behind it; also about why it has caught my attention and the reasons why this should be read. To achieve the above, I have selected three references:

References
Documentary

With this documentary I intend to advise me more on the subject to be able to explain in my final project the story that is related to the book Mieko and the fifth treasure. The idea is not to develop only the plot of the book but the tragedy suffered by a whole city.

Book from the Javerian Library collection

In order to understand the historical context in which the history of the book is developed, I have selected a reference from the general library of the Javeriana, a book called No more Hiroshima, Nagasaki, written by Taku Fukuyama. In this text are documented stories of victims of Nagasaki, Japan after the atomic bomb. This helps me to know more about the time, the customs of the Japanese people and the consequences left by the atomic bomb.

Lingualeo

Lingualeo is an online educational platform that offers an English language learning service based on gamification methods. In this page I found the book that I have selected and I have advanced in the reading with the help that this tool gives me to get to better understand the grammar and the vocabulary in English.

GoodReads

Is a "cataloging community" of readings where you can find summaries, phrases, ratings or comments of a book by other readers. This will allow me to have a broader view of the book, to know opinions to make in my video some recommendations to the book. In my opinion, it is a wonderful platform to consult on a book and its author.
