Common Law

Common law is a legal system that relies on judicial patterns rather than laws. It develops through court decisions, where judges explain law and apply decisions made on the past to new situations. Common law tends to be used in countries with legal systems influenced by England, such as United States, Canada, and Australia.
1) Common law systems base their decisions on case law and legal precedent, whereas civil law systems generally rely on rules and statutes. 2) Common law promotes stability and consistency by maintaining established legal principles. 3) Common law promotes efficiency since judges follow established precedents in common law systems, court proceedings are often quicker, reducing both time and costs for everyone involved. 4) Flexibility: Common law adapts to societal changes without waiting for lawmakers, as higher courts can overrule outdated decisions when necessary.
