Aerosol Reactor

The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the HySA TCWS cycle in an aerosol phase within a solar reactor under varying conditions of time and intensity. Samples will be introduced into a capillary to ensure a particle-by-particle nature and then exposed to different intensities of solar radiation over different time intervals.

Aerosol Reactor

Objective: To test the performance of the HySA TCWS cycle in the solar reactor in an aerosol phase over different time periods at varying intensities

TGA combined with FTIR

AS and KS reactions in different ratios

Depending on the mixtures prepared for different ratios of AS and KS, the reactions will be carried out with

1) Varying masses

2) Varying highest temperature

To determine the amount of each gas produced by varying the ratios
To determine the kinetics of the reactions

The procedure followed by Christopher Perkins, Paul Lichty, and Alan W. Weimer for determination of the kinetics of ZnO decomposition will be followed with non-isothermal and isothermal techniques. The non-isothermal technique will give the real scenario while isothermal will provide the activation energy and rate constant (https://pdf.sciencedirectassets.com/271348/1-s2.0-S0009250907X07668/1-s2.0-S000925090700499X/main.pdf?X-Amz-Security-Token=AgoJb3JpZ2luX2VjEKP%2F%2F%2F%2F%2F%2F%2F%2F%2F%2FwEaCXVzLWVhc3QtMSJIMEYCIQCkuVswiueugwljf7lTVlA48ih9zrToyXc7aLZ6umb69QIhAMWClqusN6dI8%2FFZw6YKUjLlRF002Z4ozh74nxf3tJClKuMDCPz%2F%2F%2F%2F%2F%2F%2F%2F%2F%2FwEQAhoMMDU5MDAzNTQ2ODY1IgxJzqpvol%2FIbyIvQiMqtwMIayzl1QWdcuRGHun34gP6pZzk2hOomYKFZ0QdBOO3DgPc9a8chtgEJVLkBTG4MvVBLMRIi2mXrYBLHo2RKDmBJBUzvx7I5pRWM5enTuP%2BsYoL6X6KAlE%2BUp71O0%2F6G0RVWyRok7YNx1T%2B6WfE4ObDAiCzA3CqUI0ju1Su9AzuhMpdOGkD23Zx8lF%2BbPHkHIVQ7x3TBGZXdcqDAN7IT8Sq%2FPi%2FFoSxvj%2FA%2BrkcHhVR7eSO1OvQavVgFmoNT5lLCTnSz%2BhJlREjQLopfvc1d5LGky4Yy5t9JEZzLXx43phQvy4eHLFfKij7S4l5UmT7mZVsR5MEAOzUwXtwcL6M%2FFB7hJrR3S9mgR6m05sHoFPTItjaredKnKfLadWMpxUVOjTc1V3zV3ymL1Mj0XKUlvbHns4KrqoxzaWdEPtaYDJWAhFo%2BCZy8oWQn%2B6rsGFdqMr5e8VhzL7G28ewQNfu16trsQ%2F2Xdbsz3wt3luHK%2B0lAN4nYv8TeoozX5xCB%2BbKnD1quVcZ671irAJsiIN19Tf18xpwmIDp8fUOOVQoDL2McV4%2BxesApUnvP814barOgZErUby65%2B6KMMLKr%2BkFOrMBFdUJ7aB%2FJkqnQS0IQCYVY60CsEcjSomlk9vBX2gSSiEIfFTB8G48BuMM2ZAth4Y8BNJuSRTsTFs8u3t%2B9ZXOzotirjsTyrgB%2BcyvYrthmWnEsI4EqfcH4OCGWpvSTRQCoTVchlf9W0U0SZ%2FcDpZx2zpzHth3A%2Bub2nKs5f1FFvJ0gD7a68DrF3JNsTotvaqAXHCPVxAydlvOmNjpBQubwV3YF0K6ywP0DuCuHR1gSgCT3GQ%3D&X-Amz-Algorithm=AWS4-HMAC-SHA256&X-Amz-Date=20190715T032806Z&X-Amz-SignedHeaders=host&X-Amz-Expires=300&X-Amz-Credential=ASIAQ3PHCVTYVI7OCAOA%2F20190715%2Fus-east-1%2Fs3%2Faws4_request&X-Amz-Signature=6c7094b696124fca10387ba5200026808f757d00d0a2db20e350dd3010307571&hash=b5e3ed730e0d77508a481f16f51de603f25a7ddcf9260f581490c22ecf0f9a67&host=68042c943591013ac2b2430a89b270f6af2c76d8dfd086a07176afe7c76c2c61&pii=S000925090700499X&tid=spdf-cfb0d40f-0fa9-4e9e-af5d-82b19b9f411f&sid=8216c21c7f52b34ad84a48f4b82bbe1243a2gxrqa&type=client)

Calibration of FTIR with substances which produce pure gases: for quantification

These compounds are used to produce pure gases. The mass of the sample is known. The masses will be varied for 5 experiments with longer time periods after ramp so that the complete decomposition of compounds to gases takes place. The flowrate will be kept constant while the masses will be varied. With this, the concentration will be calculated and a plot will be plotted. The general equation for the plot will be obtained and will be used for future unknowns to determine the amount of each gas produced.

Ammonium sulfite: For verification

Since ammonium sulfate produces H2SO4

Potassium Pyrosulfate: To produce SO2 or SO3 that does not interact with the byproduct
Ammonium acetate: To produce ammonia that does not interact with the byproduct
Ammonium Carbonate: To produce ammonia that does not interact with the byproduct
Calibrate TGA with metals till silver for temperature correction and sensitivity
Sensitivity: Different metals melting

Melting of different metals till silver

Temperature correction: 3-4 Metals melting at atleast 3 different rates

Rates of 5 K/min, 15 K/min, 30 K/min

Melting of first 4 metals

Thermal Solar Reactor

The sample will be introduced into a capillary to give it a particle by particle nature. It is then exposed to solar radiation at different intensities and for different time intervals.

Results of solar reactor tested in MS and ATR

Will show the phases present or gases obtained

Results of solar reactor introduced in TGA

The solar exposed samples will be introduced in TGA and the temperature will be raised as previously done. The difference in peaks would represent the conversion.
