Lung disease can severely impact various aspects of life, affecting both the individual and their family. Family members often face significant stress as they support their loved ones through the illness, witnessing the decline in health and dealing with emotional and financial burdens.
As we are learning today with this COVID-19
situation we do not have many respirators
this is not usually the case when there is no
global pandemic but with all of the extra people
needing these respirators there may not be
enough to support everyone with COVID-19 and
people with lung diseases.
Work
Depending on the severity you might not be able to do your
job which can cause a serious money problem if your benefits
do not cover the leave of absence you would have to take
Cost
Medical bills can get very expensive especcialy in countries
without free healthcare
Family
Depending on the severity of the disease it can be
very stressful for your family to have to support you
and see you go through it.
Impact on healthcare system
For every person in the hospitals there
is more and more of a wait to see a
doctor which means more doctors will
be hired then costing more money to
taxpayers
Quality of life
I've heard this in some of the more advanced first
aid courses that I have taken. At some points for
older people with health issues it is not worth doing
things like CPR because their ribs will more than likely
break and wont heal again.
Lifestyle
If it is in a very active person it is very unlikely that
they will be able to return to their lifestyle if it was
something more severe.
