Is Psychology in Crisis?

Psychology, broadly defined to encompass scientific approaches to the human soul and emotions, is facing significant challenges that some might term a crisis. However, whether this constitutes a true crisis is debatable, as it implies a previous, better state.

Theses

There is a crisis in psychology.
The "crisis" can be described through several problems/issues:

There is a general lack of transparency with regards to psychological methods.

Academization has led to a pseudo-transparency that is rather confusing most people.

"Psychology, the way it is taught and practiced, ironically is the single biggest distraction from what humans need to alleviate emotional pain."―[https://mb.emotioncoaching.net Matthias Behrends]

Terms

"Psychology"
I am using this term in the widest sense of the word, summarizing all approaches towards the human soul and emotions that are mainly based on a scientific mindset.

The problem is larger than "psychology" in the specific (per definitionem) sense of the word.

"Crisis"
As a synonym for "problem" / "issue" (probably in their plural forms) the word "crisis" will do for now.

All too often "problems" come in the disguise of "normalcy".

Normalcy

A certain reality can only be qualified as a "problem/issue" if there is some distress or conflict resulting from it.

If we assume that in order for a situation be called a "crisis" there has to have been a time where things were "better" - with a subsequent period of "worsening" - than I am not sure if "crisis" is even the right word. Have things ever been better? I do not pretend to have an answer to that.

Premises

These considerations are highly subjective and my own experiences are the horizon to which they extend.
This can either be seen as a limitation, or as a strength - since the scope of my experiences in the world of working with emotions is highly specific and extensive.
