According to the Canadian Government (n.d.), Canada has committed to completely phase out its coal-fired power plants by 2030.

Government Criticism

The Ontario government has had critics of its transition away from natural gas according to McIntosh (2020), reporter for the National Observer. A coalition of 29 groups wrote the government should fund low-cost renewable resources and make a more aggressive transition to hyroelectricity.
