22nd February

workers of fifty factories went for a strike.

But,due to curfew the protesters had to go back.

Still they came back on 24th and 25th.

The workers just had to cross the River Neva to reach the centre of the capital i.e.the Nevskii Prospekt.

Most of them were led by women

This day came to be known as the International Women's Day.

A Lockout took place on the right bank.

And there was a curfew on the left bank.

The reason was that the fashionable quarters and official buildings were surrounded by workers.

The Government called out the cavalry and the police to keep an eye on them.

By now the people had lost their patience and were about to start their protest.

Situation during that time:

Tsar had a desire to dissolve the Duma.

i)Sufferings of the people increased due to the exeptional frost and the food shortages which were deeply felt.

There were bad weather conditions - heavy snow and frost.

On the left bank were the fashionable areas,official palace,the Winter Palace,and also the place where the duma met.

On the right bank were the common people,the workers' place and the factories.

Now what happened next???
