Combining Animation and Live Action

"Perfect way to energize a topic"
animation lightens the cognitive load

Design considerations

People use look and feel as their first indicator of trust: live action is more effective for a serious message
People process better in byte sized chunks: progressive disclosure
7 emotions:Joy, Sadness, Fear, contempt, surprise, anger

Pros and Cons of Animation

Emotional aspect of learning: live action may trigger more emotion depending on subject. If I show a live action picture of a person who is injured vs an animated picture which will cause the viewer more emotion?
pro: kids really like and its good for showing how something changes over time - like a kangaroo hopping or using a microscope. The details in the live action might hide the concepts.
con: con be difficult to create and should be interactive

Adding Music

mix music and speaking? No, especiallh since I'm mixing live action and animation.
