Phys-Ed Final Summative

Engaging in sports provides numerous health benefits, such as improved cardiovascular function, better blood circulation, managed diabetes, reduced cholesterol, and lower stress levels.

"Health benefits of playing sports include the efficient functioning of the heart, controlled diabetes, lower cholesterol levels, improved blood circulation, lower hypertension, and lower stress levels. It helps in weight management, the toning of muscles and the strengthening of bones" ("Health Benefits Of Playing Sports", 2016)

Basketball aids as a stress reliever for me, and a large majority of my friends. The reason being is due to the fact that sports help take the mind off of any stressful situations, and loosen tensions.

Had far too many offensive and defensive positions, so as a class we roughly followed the game, paying attention to the main positions (ie quarterback, runningback)

Require a goal keeper

Both Soccer, Basketball, and Football have some of the most famous and widely recognized athletes and sports moments in history. A few of these players include Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Christiano Ronaldo, and Tom Brady

Boost Self-Confidence and Mental Development

Although all sports build upon an individuals overall self-confidence, I personally believe that basketball has the strongest focus on the development of ones overall self-confidence out of all sports. This is because, from playing and training for numerous years, I've learned that Basketball is all about going beyond what you believe your physical and mental limitations are.

Require strength training.

Typically more leader-driven, not all teammates get an equal share of play.

Hockey
Played between two teams of up to 11, the sport is played with hockey sticks and a puck/ball. The objective is to score on the opposing teams net by using only the stick.
Badminton
A game played by 2 teams ranging from singles (1 vs 1) to doubles (2 vs 2). The objective of the game is hit a birdie back and forth over a net, with the goal of the birdie falling onto the opposing player(s) court, hitting the floor.
Soccer
Played by 2 teams with 11 players on the field at a time for each team. Played with a ball that can only be touched by a goalkeeper, each team will attempt to kick the ball in the opposing teams net

Has a strong focus on incorporating team members within each possession.

Volleyball
Played between two teams of up to 6 players, similar to badminton; the objective of the game is to volley or bump the ball over a net earning a point if the ball lands on the floor.
Non-Traditional Sports/Games
Typically involve/incorporate a variety of skills and techniques into the game.
Basketball
A game played between 2 teams if 5 players. The objective of the game is to shoot the ball into the net/hoop on the opposing teams net. Each player is only able to dribble the ball, as kicking the ball is a violation.
Football
Large team sport (11 players each) played on a field with the objective of carrying the ball to the opposing teams end-zone.
