IMPORTANT - yunlikely that we will never know the true death toll. WHO suggest that the deaths are more than 10 times what they think, and suggest that India accounts for almost a third of COVID deaths globally

three million fatalities are simply not registered
ways to fix this include improving the civil registration system and adding a question onto the census i.e. ‘was there a death in your household since the 1st Jan 2020?’

In Aug India became one of the first counties to start getting out the AZ vaccine. This was halted a few weeks later
