Careers
Lessons -Guest Speaker - local General Contractor about career pathways through the trades. -Lessons on SHSM, OYAP, duel credit & CO-OP programs

Formative Project where you pick a desired trade as a career and layout the best possible pathway to reach this goal.

Design
Lessons -understanding grain direction both structurally and aesthetically. -types of joinery; biscuit, mortise & tenon, dowel, dovetail, kreg screw, etc -furniture styles

Formative -Label joints on handout -incorporate 1 of these joints into project (dowels would be simplest)

Measurements
Lessons -fractions/imperial system (tape measure activities) -blueprint reading -wood selection/minimizing waste

Formative -Get students to pick boards for their project, and writing with chalk layout pieces need on the board to optimize material. Give feedback. -Fill in the blank fraction assignment

Safety
Machine Safety

Lessons -PPE -Hand tools -Handouts & video for each machine

Formative -live demos with scrap wood -safety quizzes

Shop Safety

Lessons -WHIMIS -Eyewash Station/fire extinguishers -lockout procedure
