The economic and defense factors leading to Canadian Confederation are multifaceted. Initially, British North America (BNA) benefited from British colonial preferences, allowing their products to be sold without tariffs in Britain, unlike American goods.

united states started to move away from the treaty because they thought it was in favor of BNA colonies.

brittan put a tariff on american goods since its a forgien country

because of this bna had an advantage over american goods

in the summer roads and railways were covered in mud.
in the winter bodies of water froze in the winter and railways and roads were covered in snow
Canals and railways were designed to ship to Brittan and the united states
