Schools can significantly enhance the education of native languages and cultures by incorporating several strategic initiatives. First, they should engage with the Board of Education to understand the available native language and culture courses and discuss the feasibility of offering these programs with school administration.

Step 4: Check Student Voice

After implementing programs, poll student voice to see what could be added to school culture and what FMNI students feel represents them well

Step 3: Include Native Culture in School Culture

Ensure the Land Acknowledgement is read on the announcements every day
Recognize Native Holidays and Events in the school calendar
Try to connect with Native community leaders to bring programming into the school

Step 2: Run Native Language courses for students as an Alternative to French

If the school cannot find a teacher to run the course, allow students to take it online
Allow Students the opportunity to take this language course as an Alternative to French

Connect with Admin about possibility to running courses
See if your school has any qualified teachers
