How is probability determined?

Probability is determined by calculating the theoretical and expiremental probability of a given event.

What is probabiliy?

Probability is the measurement of how probable an event is.

Types of Probability

Expiremental Probability
Expiremental probability is the probability of an event and is the ratio of the number of times the event occurs to the total number of trials.
P(E)= R/N
Theoretical Probability
P= n(e)/n(s)
Theoretical probabiliity is the likelihood that an event will happen.

Terminology

"And"= multiply "Or"= add

Example Problem

If we toss a fair coin, what is the probability that a tail will show up? Event: 10 times, 29 people, landed on tails 150 times When you toss a coin there are only 2 possible outcomes: a Head or a Tail So the options for tossing a tail are 1 out of 2. P(tail) = 1/2 = 50% P(event) = 150/290 = 51.7%
