Because of his ability and experience with public speaking he was well rounded for the TV debates. He came across as friendly, even-tempered and calmed fears of the public about his qualifications
Reagan delivered a speech about Goldwater that won the admiration of the Republican party
Decline in economy in 1970's caused a lack in hope for the future- Many believed it was due to liberal ideals that stagflation occurred
Because of the loss with Vietnam many lost hope in the Democratic party
