Mya is depicted as a respectful and kind individual who values tradition and family. She respects her father's decision that she can never be a Mahout, even though she later shaves her head and eyebrows, a traditional gesture.
I like Indaw because he is a really supportive brother. Indaw gave Mya a choon that Indaw carved just for Mya. Indaw said that he will make Mya a Mahout and she will be better than most Mahouts that are guys. No Mahout has been a female so I think she'll be really good at it. Indaw really supports Mya and what she wants to be. Indaw is willing to bend the rules for Mya so I think it says a lot about his character.

I still kinda don't like Magwe because he was selfish to side with the Japanese in the first place. But he is way better than Bukong because Magwe helped Mya, Nick and Hilltop by giving food to them.
Magwe later saw that the Japanese were no better than the british and gives Nick, Hilltop and Mya food.

I don't like Magwe because he's not happy that Mr.Freestone chose Nang to become singoung instead of him. He also didn't allow Mya to go to the training camp because she is a girl. I think girls and boys have the same rights so for him to do that isn't a good impression for me. In the book it said that Magwe was unkind to the elephants. One character from the book said that Magwe was a bully.

Nang seems like a very knowledgeable because he knows lots of facts about where they are living. He seems like a okay person because his daughter wants to be a mahout but he doesn't allow her to. Its tradition that mahouts are all boys but I think that is sexist because in the book it said that there is no elephant Mya can't train. So if Mya is a good mahout why not let her be one. A father should support their child's dream no matter what gender or how crazy their dreams are.
