Why did the Irish come to Canada. Between 1896 and 1914 more then 550 000 immigrants settled on the Prairies . The reason the Irish came to Canada was to speak there own language and follow there own customs . Some kids from Ukrainians could finally go to school and learn . Today more then 1.2 million people of Ukrainians moved to Canada .
