POVERTY-When an individual takes the vow of poverty, he or she chooses to renounce personal worldly possessions and instead engage in communal sharing of resources.

CHASTITY- a promise never to have sex The priest took a vow of chastity.

OBEDIENCE-The vow of obedience ensured Middle Ages monks would obey any directives given to them, abide by the rules of the monastery, and perform the chores and duty necessary to the continued running of the monastery.
