Proposal

A structured training program has been designed to enhance the skills of RNs, MAs, EMTs, and Paramedics with at least one year of experience. Upon approval of applications by the Critical Care NPDP lead, selected staff members and their managers will coordinate to schedule the necessary classes.

Obese/ edematous patients
Veins not visible by palpation
Two unsuccessful PIV attempts by palpation

Average 5 insertions per month
Verified by unit NPDP spotcheck

Initial Competency

LMS Checklist (work with Alissa Brown)
Preceptors will sign off each of the initial 20 insertions
